Pink Martini will have a little local help when they play Yavapai College Performing Arts Center January 10. The sassy, eclectic World Music orchestra will offer a local high school musician the chance to jam with them onstage.
The winning student will receive Pink Martini memorabilia and two complimentary tickets to the concert, where they will join the band onstage for a two-song set. The winner’s school music department will also receive a $200 donation from Pink Martini.
Hailed as a “rollicking, around-the-world musical adventure,” Pink Martini’s 12-member performance ensemble fuses classic pop with music from all cultures. Pink Martini has played more than 50 concert halls across the globe, from Carnegie Hall to London’s Albert Hall to the Sydney Opera House. They have produced nine albums, including the recent Je Dis Oui, and sold three million albums worldwide.
“Most of the musicians in our band are classically trained and started at a young age,” Pink Martini representative Claire Dennerlein said. “We all feel fortunate to make a living in music. We would love to give some encouragement to a young musician in your community to do the same.”
Pink Martini performs Tuesday, January 10, at 7:30 p.m., at Yavapai College Performing Arts Center, 1100 E. Sheldon Street in Prescott. Tickets are $32, $42, $48 and $58 and can be purchased by calling the YCPAC Box Office at (928) 776.2000 or by visiting www.ycpac.com
