Monster Trucks and Police/K9 Demonstrations at Prescott Valley Event Center on Saturday

PRESCOTT VALLEY- People will be able to get a close look at both Police and K9 procedures on Saturday morning at the Prescott Valley Event Center leading up to Monster Trucks pile-driving smaller cars at the Salute to Heroes.

“It’s an event that has taken place here for a number of years,” Prescott Valley Event Center General Manager Scott Norton said. “It’s just a great event for community support.”

Staring at 10:30am, Police with K9s will be holding demonstrations and teaching the public how they handle stressful situations. An event like this shows the public exactly what an officer must go through during certain points of their job.

“It’s a great family event, the kids come out and get to climb all over the vehicles and they get to learn more about law enforcement,” said Prescott Valley Town Council member Marty Grossman who is hosting the monster truck event. “It makes our law enforcement community approachable by kids. If they have a problem, it’s not some anonymous person, it’s somebody they can approach.”

Following the events outside, monster trucks will be roaring and making pancakes out of smaller cars as four of the world-famous trucks will conduct dazzling stunts inside the Prescott Valley Event Center.

“Basically we are just going to do a little bit of exhibition freestyle with four trucks,” said Larry Swim who grew up around monster trucks and have been operating them for seventeen years. “We’re going to be getting some good air and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

In addition to the demonstrations and monster truck performances, there will also be live bands, a car show, Indy Car and apache/Blackhawk helicopter displays as well as tours of first responder command units.

Salute to Heroes is a fundraiser opportunity for the community as all proceeds go to local non-profits including the Prescott Valley Police Foundation, Central Yavapai Fire and Medical Authority and the VFW Post #10227 and American Legion Post #140 U.S. Veteran organizations.

All seats are general admission for the monster truck show and tickets cost $8 for kids and $18 for ages 11 and up. The Prescott Valley Event Center opens for the monster truck display at 2pm with the show starting at 3pm.
