Polar Bear Splash Kicks off Prescott Valley's 40th Anniversary Year

08 January 2018

About 65 people lined up around the edge of the pool to jump into the cold waters for the Polar Bear Splash in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Town of Prescott Valley.

Frankly, the sun was out, the weather was lovely, and it didn’t seem exactly polar-like. But, that made no difference to those prepared to brave the not-so-icy waters of Prescott Valley at Mountain Valley Splash  Of course, there was much more to do than simply a jump into the pool - which although cold at 47ºF, was quite a bit warmer than the temperatures in states up north and back east, where many highs barely rose past 0ºF.

Jean Lupa was the Mistress of Ceremonies, and it was obvious that she was having the time of her life, as the various events took place, including:

Donut eating contest - it’s not as easy as it looks.

Ice cream eating contest - messy, but oh, so delicious!

Hairy Princess Beauty Contest - Oh, My!

Polar Bear Splash - On your mark, get set, jump!

This was obviously the big event of the weekend, as families came from all over the quad-city area to join in the fun and laughter.

And so begins the kick-off to a year of celebrations, as Prescott Valley looks to celebrate the accomplishments achieved over the last 40 years.
