REDDING, Calif. – There was not a shortage of goals scored in Northern California Friday afternoon, when Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) scored 12 goals against Simpson University in their first California Pacific Conference match of 2019.
Just seven minutes into the first half, Katy Hyde (FR/Denton, Texas) scored the first of the Eagles (4-3-2, 1-0 Cal Pac) seven goals in the half off a rebound. Riley Martinson (JR/Deer Park, Wash.) was active in the half assisting on the second goal, which Sierra Vicente (SO/Las Vegas, Nev.) (3) scored. Martinson scored herself (2) just nine minutes later. Three goals later, Izzy Erickson (FR/St. George, Utah) scored her first collegiate goal right before the halftime whistle.
ERAU's second leading goal scorer in 2018 Parker Lee (SR/Kennewick, Wash.), scored the first of the second half and her first of the season. Kylee Bennett (FR/Pocatello, Idaho) score just over a minute later, her first of her college career. ERAU buried three more before the end of regulation and bussed out of Redding with a dozen goals.
The Eagles have a rematch of their Cal Pac Championship match from a year ago against UC Merced on Sunday at 1:00 pm MST.
