Stoneridge Community Throws Party for National Night Out

PRESCOTT VALLEY- Every first Tuesday in August, law enforcement agencies and communities across the United States get together to grow a bond and raise awareness against crime. After not participating in the day last year, the community of Stoneridge in Prescott Valley decided to throw a huge party and invite police, fire and local dignitaries to join in.

“A few of us on block watch, which is a neighborhood watch program, thought it was really important to support our police and fire,” Block Watch Coordinator Peggy Campbell said. “Especially after the Goodwin Fire when they did so much to help us because it was very, very close to our houses here.”

People from throughout the community of over 1100 homes along with citizens in surronding cities came to enjoy music and food with the individuals who protect them on a daily basis.

“Most of us actuarially live and work in Prescott Valley so we are part of the community,” said Prescott Valley Police Department Sergeant Jason Kaufman. “We care about this community, the community cares about us.”

“Working with the community and being appreciated for what we do is awesome,” Kaufman said.

Campbell said the first year was doing well with attendance and the board will decide next year’s plans after taking thoughts and suggestions from the community.
