Most of us have encountered panhandlers, people holding cardboard signs asking for money. With the onset of warmer weather, there will be an increased presence of those asking for money in the Prescott Valley area. Many of us want to give but are not sure if giving cash is the most helpful. That is why there’s Better Bucks.
The Prescott Valley Police Department has teamed up with Stepping Stones, Walmart of Prescott Valley, the Flagstaff Police Department and the Shadows Foundation to help those in need. Donors can express their compassion free from concerns that their charity will be used for unintended purposes.
Better Bucks vouchers are available for purchase at Stepping Stones in Prescott Valley and the Prescott Valley Police Department for $6.00 per book. Each book is worth $5.00 and can be used to purchase, food, toiletries, even pet-food; however they cannot be used for alcohol or tobacco items. No change is given at the register and items purchased with Better Bucks cannot be refunded.
For more information on how you can help or get involved, log onto www.shadowsfoundation.org under the About us tab or contact the Prescott Valley Police Department at 928-772-5149.
The Better Bucks program of Prescott Valley was made possible by generous donations from community partners such as Little Dealer-Little Prices, Sun Valley Tire and Automotive, The Center for Physical Excellence, Findlay Toyota Prescott, Hensley Beverage Company, Walmart of Prescott Valley and our partners at Great Circle Media.
