PRESCOTT VALLEY- During a recent Humboldt Unified School District board meeting, it was decided in a 5-0 ruling that the contract of Bradshaw Mountain High School physical education teacher and varsity football coach David Moran would not be renewed.
Humboldt Unified School District Superintendent Daniel Streeter sent a statement to Prescott Valley eNews via email on Wednesday afternoon.
“High school interscholastic athletics should be educational in nature. Terms like student-athlete, teacher-coach, and educational-athletics should be used in an intentional manner,” Streeter said in an email statement. “The administration, staff, and community expect the highest standards of excellence to be promoted and modeled with regards to academics, personal growth, and athletics. When someone is not meeting this standard, we need to make a change and find someone who will fit the expectation of our educational community.”
Bradshaw Mountain High School principal Kort Miner said the search would begin immediately with interviews taking place in the beginning of April.
Moran took over as coach of the Bradshaw Mountain High School varsity football team before the 2014 season. During Moran’s three seasons, the Bears went a combined 23-11 with two section championships-the latest coming during the previous campaign.
At the time of publication, Moran could not be reached for an interview.
