Bill's Newscast: Wanted - Members of the PedBike Advisory Committee

28 December 2017

Applicants sought for the City of Prescott’s Pedestrian, Bicycle and Traffic Advisory Committee; and reminders that some closures are still in effect on the Verde River.

Shhh... Don't disturb the nesting eagles.

Arizona Game and Fish officials are reminding visitors to the Verde River that closures are in effect in some areas. The river near Chasm Creek, at the Needle Rock Recreation Area and below Horseshoe and Bartlett Dams is closed to foot and vehicle entry. Floating through is allowed. Near Cold Water Creek and Mule Shoe Bend, watercraft is allowed but stopping on the river or landing isn’t permitted. These closures and restrictions are in effect through June 30th of next year to protect breeding pairs of bald eagles. A closure below the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness isn’t planned unless the eagle pair resumes nesting. Meanwhile, the Lynx Lake Shoreline Trail in Prescott will remain open unless the eagle pair moves nesting locations.

Time is running out to apply

Only a couple days left to apply for the City of Prescott’s Pedestrian, Bicycle and Traffic Advisory Committee. The City Council Appointment Committee is now accepting applications for citizens who are interested in serving on this new committee. Anyone who has expressed interest in creating a Capital Improvement Plan towards the impact of pedestrian, bicycle and traffic issues is encouraged to apply. Members are appointed by the Mayor and City Council. The deadline for applications is this Saturday and terms will run through March 2020. For more information, visit or call the Prescott City Clerk’s office at 777-1272.
