Johan Ryd With 1St Goal Of Season

Prescott Valley, AZ – The Rapid City Rush hung on to their 2-1 lead over the Sundogs giving them the win and ending the Sundogs' five game point streak. All three of tonight's goals came in the 2nd period, with Arizona unable to make up the one point deficit.

The first 20 minutes began similar to that of lasts night match-up against Rapid City with both teams scoreless in the 1st. The Rush, were able to kill off both of the Sundogs' powerplays in the opening period when they were unable to capitalize on the man advantage. The period ended with 8-6 shots on goal in favor of Rapid City, strangely enough identical to the night before.

Rapid City was the first to open the scoring with a goal from Jared Brown and an assist being credited to Gruenke. Minutes later Brown scored again chipping one past Arizona's goalie David Brown. With 11:23 left in the 2nd period Johan Ryd scored for Arizona, giving him, his 1st goal of the season.

Heading into the final period Arizona went on the penalty kill twice, giving Rapid City the upper hand. Ryd received 2 minutes for slashing and later with 2:30 left, Larocque was called for roughing when he sent a Rush player into the Sundogs' net. The Rush went on the powerplay but the Sundogs held them off and with 29 seconds left and both teams full string Arizona called a timeout hoping to regroup and make the surge but were again unable to make the play.

Arizona was outshot tonight with Arizona's David Brown seeing 39 shots on goal and Rapid City's Neil Conway with 27.

The Sundogs return to Prescott Valley to take on the Denver Cutthroats in a 3-game series beginning on Wednesday. This will be the first of eleven meetings between the two clubs.
