PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The NBA G League announced Friday that Northern Arizona Suns guards Archie Goodwin and Josh Gray have been invited to participate in the ninth annual NBA G League Elite Mini Camp.
The camp is a two-day scouting event featuring some of the league’s top prospects. As of Friday, 39 athletes will participate in the camp from May 14-15 at Chicago’s Quest Multisport gym.
Before the NBA Draft’s top prospects meet later in the week, the Elite Mini Camp offers standouts from the past season another chance to perform in front of NBA team personnel in advance of Summer Leagues and 2018 training camps.
Gray participated in the camp last year and followed up by signing onto the Orlando Magic’s Summer League team. This past season playing for the Northern Arizona Suns, he improved across the board, averaging 19.4 points (45.4 FG%, 40.7 3FG%, 75.9 FT%), 4.8 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 2.4 steals per game. He led the NBA G League in steals, had the third most triple-doubles in the league (two) and tied for the sixth most 30+ point games in the league (seven). He was also just one of three players in the league to average at least 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists (Quinn Cook, Walter Lemon Jr.).
His efforts earned him a GATORADE Call-Up to the Phoenix Suns in February.
Goodwin will make his first appearance at the Elite Mini Camp after a standout season. Averaging 19.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game on the season, Goodwin led all guards in the league with a 52.8 shooting percentage (min. 100 FGA). He shot 55.9 percent with Northern Arizona after the Suns acquired him in a trade on Jan. 7.
